So, you’re thinking about making a move. Maybe this would be the first time you’d be buying a home, or maybe you’re an old hand at it. Maybe you’re a homeowner who’s considering either upsizing or downsizing. Maybe you have plenty of equity in your current home and are wondering whether to make improvements on your current home or to find something new. Whatever your real estate situation is, the choices you make can have far reaching consequences. If the real estate bubbles and crashes of the last decade taught us nothing else, it certainly taught us that!

Things, for the most part, have improved, though moreso for some areas than for others. And many of the financial tools that were in place a decade ago no longer exist. In other words, even for those experienced in the real estate market, the decision about whether or not to move is not a simple one. And the best way to avoid the majority of pitfals that one might encounter would be to prepare as much as possible BEFORE jumping into the process. As a Broker for more than 30 years, my goal has always been to help my clients make their own best decisions, armed with plenty of information and resources and the knowledge that they’re not alone! Or how about the sprawling neighborhoods in Fairfax, including Fairfax Commons, Fairfax Crossing, and Fairfax Silvercrest. If you like towering ceilings and open floorplans, you’ll want to be sure to check out the Fairfax listings of homes for sale in your price range. With riding stables, several golf courses (including a great little 9 hold course ideal for teaching golf to the kids and another that doubles as ski slopes in the winter!), you’ll find plenty to keep you busy in Bartlett!

Carol Stream real estate saw a great surge of development in the 90s that continued into the new century and has many fabulous neighborhoods to show for it. For example, there are numerous Cambridge neighborhoods with homes for sale in price ranges spanning several hundreds of thousands of dollars…appealing to buyers in many price ranges and offering both single family detached homes for sale and lovely townhomes for sale as well. The lovely Renaissance neighborhood appeals to folks preferring a more contemporary flair, while Rolling Oaks offers a variety of semi-custom homes with more traditional designs. So, Where Do You Begin?

There’s an old saying that goes “when we know better, we do better.” That couldn’t be more relevant than in making some of our biggest decisions. The biggest real estate blunders I’ve seen over the years have been when folks just “jump in” without having done their homework.  Prime example would be when someone tries to put an offer on a home without really knowing what they could afford, or when deciding to sell their home without understanding the market. Best to avoid those pitfalls!

So many of the “rules of the road” have changed for buyers in recent years. Properties that used to qualify for FHA (those with Condo Associations) by and large no longer do, pricing of homes can be very confusing. We can help.
